The Sokoto state chapter of the Labour Party has raised an alarm of a plan criminal impersonation against the state chapter of the Party by a group of unscrupulous elements claiming to be members of the Labour party, whose intention is to deceive the general public by spreading handbills with the party logo and calling for a general labour party stakeholders meeting in the state in a venue not the Labour Party state Secretariat.

Hon Abdurahim Imam Chindo, the State Labour Party Chairman, released this disclaimer notice to Trustbase news reporter in Abuja on Sunday where he also informed the public that the Sokoto Chapter of the Labour Party under his leadership has no plans of such an unlawful and criminal gathering.

The State Chairman, however advised the general public to shun such mischievous invitation by a faceless group not known by the state party chapter and the Labour party constitution, he also assured that the security agencies will be notified about the criminal impersonators.

” We have gotten information of fliers and stickers that is going round, where some individuals are calling for a purported stakeholders meeting and as our party is concerned, the Sokoto state chapter, we have not called for such a meeting”
“But we know what is happening now in our Party, where some support groups and their leadership including our party’s presidential candidate wants to highjack the Labour Party ”

Hon Chindo, maintained that the Labour Party can’t be highjacked by anyone and the Sokoto State Chapter is strongly behind the able and pragmatic leadership of Bar Julius Abure, the National Chairman of Labour Party.
He also re-emphasised that the Nnewi party convention, which has been done and dusted remains valid as it met all Constitutional requirements of the party and the Electoral Acts and duly affirmed by the Federal High Court Abuja.

The Sokoto State Chairman also frowned at what happened in Abia State, where the Governor, Dr Alex Otti and the party’s Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi and even other persons who are not registered members of the party had what they called a “Stakeholder meeting” at Umuahia, the Abia State Capital, which actions he described to be alien to the party constitution and an intention to cause internal crises within the party.
