Jigawa Begins Oil, Uranium Search, Commits N 2.5bn For Geo-Physical Survey

The Jigawa state government has injected N2.5b to conduct a geoscience survey of solid minerals deposits to unlocked full economic potential in its bid to expand its revenue base. The excercise is expected to cover a comprehensive geoscience survey across the state.
This was revealed by the Jigawa state Commissioner for information Sagir Ahmed Musa, while briefing reporters on the outcome of the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting which approved the said sum at Govt House in Dutse said the strategic initiative of the present administration marks a major step forward in the state government’s commitment to unlocking state vast natural resource potential.

The survey would provide critical data on subsurface mineral, oil, and gas deposits, enabling informed decisions, attracting investment, and supporting sustainable economic diversification.

The commissioner maintained that the council reiterated the administration’s focus on economic development through the responsible and data-driven exploration of natural resources, adding that by investing in high-quality geoscientific studies, “the state aims to create new revenue streams, stimulate local job creation, and lay a solid foundation for industrial development.

“Also, the Geo-Physical Survey for subsurface mineral, oil, and gas deposits will be delivered by competent professionals in accordance with international best practices and applicable regulations to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and strategic value of the findings”

He added that the state government remained committed to pursuing initiatives that drive inclusive growth, enhance resource utilization, and improve the overall socio-economic well-being of its citizens.Sagir noted that, by investing in high-quality geoscientific studies, the state aims to create new revenue streams, stimulate local job creation, and lay a solid foundation for industrial development.

He added that, the Geo-Physical Survey for subsurface mineral, oil, and gas deposits will be delivered by competent professionals in accordance with international best practices and applicable regulations to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and strategic value of the findings.
