Tension and chaos erupted in Tarabu village of Kirikasamma Local Government Area, Jigawa State, last Wednesday, as top politicians narrowly escape lynching during the flag-off of a road construction project, by Governor Umar Namadi Danmodi.

Among those who escaped unhurt were the Chairman of Kirikasamma Local Government Council, Alhaji Muhammad Maji, and the member representing Guri/Kirikasamma/Birniwa Federal Constituency, Hon. Abubakar Fulata.

The incidence occurred during the official flag-off of a 23.4-kilometre road project from Tarabu to Gafta, performed by Governor Umar Namadi as part of his citizens’ engagement activities.

Shortly after the event, angry youths reportedly stoned govt vehicles including governor’s convoy, smashing several cars, including those belonging to top government officials and police officers on duty.
