A Serving Police Officer Alleges To Attend An APC Stakeholders’ Meeting In Kaduna, Wearing Party Tag.
The news of Inspector Haruna Abdurrashid Marafa, a serving officer in the Nigeria Police Force, has gone viral after he was seen in a Political Party Stakeholders Meeting and also discovered to be a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) despite the prohibition of political affiliations for active police officers.
SaharaReporters not Trustbase News had reported that last Thursday, Haruna left his duty post at the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja and travelled to Kaduna to attend a stakeholder meeting of the party.
Pictures seen published by the online news shows that Haruna was wearing a party stakeholders’ tag around his neck. His name also appears on the list of Ikara Local Government APC stakeholders.
In Nigeria, police officers and personnel of other security agencies are prohibited from having political affiliations.
They are expected faithfully and impartially to serve any government in power.
“Is it normal for policemen now to join political parties? We have many of them in Kaduna, even soldiers. They now join APC and publicly attend stakeholders meeting,” a source at the event told SaharaReporters.
“We had our stakeholders meeting last Thursday at Congo Conference Hall, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and one Inspector Haruna Abdurrashid attached to CID in Abuja was present as a member.
“He attended the APC Kaduna Zone 1 stakeholders’ meeting with us. Ikara LG Chairman even added his name among the stakeholders of APC from Ikara.”
Calls made to the Force spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, were neither answered nor returned according to Reports.
