Abia community cries out over invasion by neighbours
Unless the Abia State government intervenes urgently in the reported vandalism of property belonging to Okaiuga Nkwoegwu Community Secondary School in Ohuhu , Umuahia North Local Government Area, allegedly, by thugs from the neighbouring Amachara Umuopara community in Umuahia South Local Government Area, a full blown communal crisis may soon ensue.
A video posted by the Okaiuga Community, alleged that the invaders swooped on Umunenweze Village and other parts of Okaiuga and destroyed some buildings in Okaiuga Nkwoegwu Community Secondary School, located in the area.
According to an alarm raised via a release, the President General, Okaiuga Nkwoegwu Improvement Union,
Ohuhu Umuahia, Sir Uzomba Ekwuribe, thugs suspected to be youths and hoodlums from Umuopara in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State carried out the dastardly act, allegedly, with the support of some private developers.
The alert claims that the thugs who were carrying axes, dane guns, Monday hammers, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons have been at this illegal destruction of Abia State government property, for days now and were over heard boasting that they have the authority of their people at various levels of government to cause the mayhem.
The Okaiuga Community Leader, however, made it clear that if this unwarranted attack is not checked by the security agencies and government, a possible devastating conflict between the Umuopara community in Umuahia South and Okaiuga Nkwoegwu in Umuahia North is inevitable.
He called on the peace loving people to remain calm while awaiting the immediate intervention of the Abia State government through the arresting and prosecution of the perpetrators.
