Abia, Enugu Governors hold crucial meeting
As political alignment and realignments continue among politicians and interests, the Governor of Abia, Dr Alex Otti and his Enugu State Counterpart, Mr. Peter Mbah this Saturday (12/7/25) held a closed door meeting to discuss what they termed ‘issues affecting both states’.
Addressing Newsmen after the meeting, Abia Governor applauded the cordial working relationship existing between the two states and assured that his administration will continue to collaborate with the government of Enugu State and other south East States to ensure sustainable peace, security and greater development of the region.
He disclosed that Abia and many other states are in support of the creation of state Police and expressed the hope that the federal government will consider their position in no distant time.
Speaking on the creation of an additional state from the zone, Governor Otti noted that it is just for the south East region to have additional state as the region is the only region with the least states out of the other 5 geo-political zones.
Baring his mind, the Governor of Enugu State, Mr. Peter Mba explained that he came to rub minds with Governor Alex Otti on issues of common interest for the two states to ensure better life for the people.
Governor Mbah pointed out that being from the same geo-political zone, there was a need for their programs and policies to have far reaching impacts on the citizenry and commended Governor Alex Otti for the great work he is doing for the state.
Hanto Daily news reports that some analysts are of the view that the meeting may have some political undertone considering the current situation in the country and the crises bedevilling the political parties of both Governors.
Recall, there have been speculations of some Governors were likely to join the new coalition movement under the auspices of ADC.
