The All Progressive Congress, APC has by consensus, nominated prof. Nentawa Yilwatda as it’s National Chairman , replacing Abdullah Umar Ganduje who resigned.
Yilwatda’s emergence followed a late night meeting on Wednesday between president Bola Tinubu and elected governor’s of the party in Abuja.
56 years old Yilwatda hails from Plateau state. He is a Christian and the current minister for Humanitarian affairs.
He was the APC’s candidate in his state during the 2023 governorship election . Before embracing politics, he was an engineering lecturer at federal university of Agriculture, Markudi, Benue state .
Between 2017 and 2021, he served as a Resident Electoral Commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC overseeing elections in Anambra, Benue, Rivers , Cross Rivers and Osun.
He resigned from INEC in December 2021, returned to Plateau state where he joined the APC.
