Anthony Joshua To Work With Oleksandr Usyk’s Team For Jake Paul Fight – Arise News

Anthony Joshua has confirmed that he has split from his coaching setup and is now training with Oleksandr Usyk’s team ahead of his December 19 fight against Jake Paul in Miami.

The two time former heavyweight champion said he has been preparing for the bout alongside members of the Usyk camp, the team of the man who previously defeated him twice. The fight will mark Joshua’s return to the ring on Netflix fifteen months after his knockout loss to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium.

Speaking at his press conference on Friday, Joshua addressed speculation about changes to his corner. When asked whether Ben Davison and Lee Wylie would continue training him, he replied: “No, I won’t be trained by Ben Davison. I said that London is a bit distracting for me, so I was invited to train with Team Usyk.”

Joshua explained that the decision has already begun to shape his preparations. “I’ve been in Spain, we’ve been doing some good training, and I think he’s one of the best in the world… Not I think, he is one of the best in the world,” he said, adding that it was also “down to his team that’s around him, so I linked up with them.”

He said the experience had been eye opening. “Getting an insight into how someone who’s achieved so much has been phenomenal, it’s been a great experience and very challenging.”

Joshua confirmed that he has been working with Team Usyk for “a couple months now”, though he clarified that he and Usyk are not sharing the ring. “No, I don’t spar with Usyk, he’s training somewhere else at the minute. He’s been in camp, but he’s in and out of camp so right now, he’s training somewhere else.”
