August Protest: Security Men Allegedly Shoot at Protesters at MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

There is palpable tension on the 3rd day of the ongoing protests against hunger as it turned bloody in Abuja on Saturday as  a death has been recorded, after police were suspected to have fired live bullets at journalists and protesters in their bid to disperse them from the MKO Abiola Stadium.

Protesters were seen running for their lives as heavy gun fires could be heard far away as the police were dispersing Protesters, after barricading the stadium, opened fire in what was reportedly “orders from above.”

The protests had converged on again today when a detachment of police officers reinforced and moved in immediately, charging at the peaceful protesters.

A reporter with Premium Times was reported to have been a target as he succeeded to enter his car as bullets rained on his car, as he was in motion.

There were also reports of earlier shootings in some parts of the city leading to one death and several injuries which Amnesty International has condemned as an excessive use of force.
