The body of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja has on Thursday , arrived at the Nigerian Air force wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos state.
The body arrived at 9am and was received by soldiers of the Guards Brigade who are set to pay their last respects to him.
Recall that Lagbaja was said to have died after a brief illness on November 5 at the age of 56.
According to a burial announcement issued by the Acting COAS, Lieutenant General OO Oluyode on Wednesday, the service of songs for the late COAS will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the National Christian Centre in Abuja.
This will be followed by a Military Parade and Interment on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the National Military Cemetery, Abuja.
Lagbaja is the second Chief of Army Staff to die in office in the last three years since Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, who died just months into his tenure in 2021.
Born on February 28, 1968, Lagbaja served as the Chief of Army Staff for one year and four months following his appointment to the position by President Tinubu in June 2023.
