CHILDREN’S DAY: Let’s protect the rights of children, shun exploitation – Abia LP Chairman, Igara charges| Read more
The chairman, Labour Party, Abia State/ National Vice Chairman, south east, Hon. Ceekay Igara, has advocated against child labour, exploitation and every form of abuse of children’s rights.
Hon. Igara made this advocation in his message commemorating this year’s children’s day.
He called on parents, government and food spirited individuals to help safe guard the future of children by ensuring they have access to quality education, good medical care and other basic needs of life.
The message read;

As we mark this year’s children’s day, I join millions of parents and guardians all over the world to celebrate our children, especially Abia children, who are our future leaders.
The 2024 children’s day anniversary themed: “for every child, every right” is a wake up call for us, on the need to respect and protect the rights of our children which includes giving them access to quality education and protecting them from any form of abuse and exploitation.
It is saddening that in major parts of Nigeria, our children lack quality education, leading to high number of school drop outs; poor medical facilities which makes them vulnerable to diseases, to mention but a few.
This is therefore, a wake up call to our leaders and good spirited Nigerians, to ensure that our children do not lack these basic needs.
We should also ensure that these children are not subjected to any form of exploitation and undeserved labour so as not to tamper with their psychology and hinder their potentials.
Let us all join hands to create a bright future for our children and make their dreams achievable.
