Dembele Named Men’s Player Of The Year At FIFA Best Awards – Arise News

Paris St-Germain and France forward Ousmane Dembele has been crowned the men’s player of the year at the Fifa Best awards, adding another major honour to a remarkable season for the Frenchman.

The 28-year-old, who won the Ballon d’Or in September, received the award at a ceremony held in Qatar on Tuesday after playing a pivotal role in PSG’s trophy-laden 2024–25 campaign. Dembele helped the Parisian side secure four titles, including their maiden Uefa Champions League triumph.

Dembele, who joined PSG from Barcelona in 2023 after spells with Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona, registered 51 goal contributions in 53 appearances under coach Luis Enrique last season. His outstanding performances saw him edge Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe to the prestigious accolade.

The winger-turned-forward was in attendance at the awards ceremony ahead of PSG’s Intercontinental Cup final against Flamengo on Wednesday. The Fifa Best men’s player award covers performances between August 2024 and August 2025 and is voted for by national team coaches, captains, journalists, and fans.

Despite a slow start to the 2024–25 season, Dembele’s form surged after he was redeployed as a central striker. He went on to score 35 goals in all competitions, with eight coming in the Champions League, including decisive strikes against Liverpool and Arsenal in the knockout stages.

His latest success places him among an elite group of past winners such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo since the award’s introduction in 2016. This season, Dembele has continued his fine form, recording three goals and three assists across all competitions for PSG so far.

On the international stage, Dembele also played a key role in helping France qualify for next summer’s World Cup. The two-time Champions have been drawn in a group alongside Senegal, Norway, and one of the play-off winners, as they aim to reclaim global glory.
