Former Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election bid in the 2026 governorship poll.
Fayemi made the call on Friday during the APC leaders’ annual get-together held at his country home in Isan-Ekiti, stressing that electoral victory requires sustained hard work, unity, and strategic grassroots engagement across wards and local government areas.

While acknowledging the achievements of the Oyebanji administration over the last three years, the former governor warned party members against complacency, noting that strong governance performance must be matched with effective political mobilisation.

Fayemi said the governor’s “superlative performance” had weakened opposition parties and nearly turned Ekiti into a one-party state, but insisted that the party must still work hard to make the June 20, 2026 election victory overwhelming.

“We must redouble our efforts. Even if Governor Oyebanji were the only candidate on the ballot—which I know he won’t be—we must not underrate any party,” Fayemi said.
“Let us go to the polls with all the energy and mobilisation we can muster and make the victory a resounding one.”

He urged APC faithful to close ranks, intensify door-to-door campaigns and continue projecting the achievements of the Oyebanji administration, describing the governor as a steady, people-oriented leader committed to Ekiti’s development.

In his remarks, Governor Oyebanji expressed appreciation to Fayemi and the APC leadership for their support, stressing that unity, loyalty and collective responsibility remain critical ahead of the election.

“God has delivered us from the crisis of primaries,” Oyebanji said.
“Let us approach the June 20, 2026 election with all the energy we have conserved, all the mobilisation, and as a united front.”
The governor added that peaceful mobilisation, effective grassroots engagement and issue-based campaigns would demonstrate the party’s strength and readiness to the electorate.

Other speakers, including Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Adeoye Aribasoye, Senate spokesperson Yemi Adaramodu, and Ekiti APC Chairman Sola Elesin, praised the Oyebanji administration, saying its impact has strengthened the party’s standing across the state.

The event was attended by party leaders, lawmakers, council chairmen, ward officials, and the wife of the former governor, Bisi Fayemi, among others.
