Governors Lack Powers To Determine Party Decisions. They’re Pressure Group.— Wike.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has backed the supremacy of the Party and non interference of the organs of a political parties by Governors. Saying some actions of some Governors are the major causes of political crises in party.
This was raised by the FCT Minister on Friday in Abuja in a media chart with some Journalists.
The Minister maintained that the governor’s forum is not an organ of a party, they are pressure group that can only put influence on the National Working Committee which can not take the functions of the NWC.
Wike stated that it’s only the organs of the party that determines what happened in the party in terms of leadership. Therefore the Governors can’t form committees for a party and if such is done , they are only fanning crisis in the party.
Moreso, if there should be any removal of any national officers, it must be through National Conversation of the Party.
He further says that INEC only recognises the National Chairman and the National Secretary for party correspondence, he therefore likened those choosing the disruption of party decisions as being selfish.
This statement was made in heels of the resolutions of the PDP Governor’s forum which seems to have decisions for the PDP.
“After watching that interview, I called Seyi Makinde, who is my friend, and said, ‘Look, I heard what you said, but you didn’t tell the truth regarding some issues.” – Wike said PDP governors don’t have the power to determine who is going to be the PDP National Secretary, and they also don’t have the power to make a zonal committee.
On why Wike is not supporting Peter Obi: “He has no chance of winning the election; I don’t do social media candidates.”
In a move which has continued to divide opinions among Nigeria Tinubu suspended Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu and members of the House of Assembly following months of political crisis in Rivers State.
But Wike said the president’s move saved Rivers from implosion, arguing that the decision to appoint a sole administrator following Fubara’s suspension was a step in the right direction.
The former Rivers governor said this on Friday in Abuja during a media parley with select journalists.
