They were reportedly kidnapped while returning from their farms on Saturday evening.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Nahum Daso, confirmed this to TRUST BASE NEWS on Sunday.

Daso said the Command had launched an investigation into the issue.

He said, “There was an abduction yesterday, the abduction of 12 females when they were coming back from their farms, in Askira-Uba, by suspected Boko Haram.

“The details are still sketchy, but efforts are underway,” the PPRO said.

The abduction is the latest in a series of attacks by gunmen in different states in the northern part of the country.

Gunmen kidnapped 25 schoolgirls from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State, last Monday.

The Kebbi left the vice principal of the school dead.

Last Tuesday, over 300 school children from the St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools, Papiri, Niger State, were whisked away by bandits.

The Catholic diocese, however, said that 50 of the schoolchildren escaped.

Gunmen also attacked the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke-Isegun in Eruku, Kwara State, last Tuesday, killing three people and abducting 38 worshippers.

The 38 worshippers, however, regained freedom, according to a statement by the Kwara State Government.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s commitment in tackling insecurity in the country, saying he will not relent until all Nigerians are protected.

Tinubu in a statement on Sunday via his official X handle said Nigeria would be secured under his watch, adding that every citizen deserves the right to be safe in any state of the federation.

“Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety — and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people,” the Commander-in-Chief said.

He commended the security agencies for the swift rescue of the abducted victims, saying he was “closely monitoring the security situation nationwide and receiving continuous updates from the frontline.”

“You will recall that I cancelled my trip to the G20 summit in South Africa to enable me coordinate the security efforts at home.

“Thanks  to the efforts of  our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued.

“I am equally happy that 51 out of the missing students of the Catholic School in Niger State, have been recovered,” he stated.
