Hardship is on the increase under Tinubu – Salihu Lukman
A former National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Lukman has called on President Bola Tinubu to quickly address the current hardship that is snowballing into agitation by the citizenry.
Speaking while assessing the performance the Senator Bola Tinubu-led administration, Lukman noted with concern the level of hardship and poverty experienced by Nigerians across the country.
The former top notcher of the APC pointed out that nothing seems to have changed for the benefit of the ordinary Nigerian since May 2023.
While berating the current federal government for poor performance, he recalled that he had earlier raised alarm over the decisions and policies adopted by the present administration, which fell on deaf ears.
In his words, “On the scorecard of President Tinubu and the APC government for two years, I mean it is predictable, even from my previous writings, nothing has changed. From almost two months after the coming of Asiwaju, when I saw the wrong steps, remember one of the first open letters I wrote to him, was about disturbing signals.
“Raising alarm about how he was getting it wrong and subsequently I made the point that renewed hope has become renewed anger.”
He therefore warned that the agitation from the people need to be addressed to avoid an outburst of emotions and anger from Nigerians who are bearing the brunt of bad governance.
According to him, a quick survey across states of the nation will reveal to anyone who cares to listen that agitation is building up among the people.
“Nothing has come close so far to delivering on what we promised Nigerians which is the disappointing part, in terms of my assessment of the government of Asiwaju,” Lukman lamented
