INEC announces key dates for Osun voter registration activities
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Osun State has announced the commencement of outstanding activities under Phase One of the Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise.
INEC also said the move followed a circular released by the Commission’s National Headquarters on Friday.
In a statement issued on Saturday on behalf of Dr Mutiu Agboke, the Osun Resident Electoral Commissioner by Musa Olurode, the Public Affairs Officer, the Commission said the development aligned with the approved national timeline for the ongoing CVR.
It added that the initiative would ensure all eligible citizens had the opportunity to register, update their details, or verify their records ahead of future electoral processes.
“The Commission remains committed to ensuring that all eligible voters have an opportunity to register. Phase One of the exercise would continue until 10 December 2025, after which other key activities would follow,” the statement noted.
INEC said the printing of the Preliminary Register of Voters would take place between December 13 and 14, 2025.
According to the statement, the printing was to facilitate preparations for the mandatory display of the register.
The Commission further explained that the display for claims and objections would run from December, 16 to 21, 2025.
“Registered voters and the general public are encouraged to visit the thirty local government offices of the Commission to verify their details,” it stated.
It said members of the public were free to raise claims or objections as necessary during the seven-day period, adding that public scrutiny remained a vital part of maintaining the accuracy of the voters’ register.
“The Commission would handle complaints arising from the display exercise on 21 December 2025. The date has been set aside to receive, document and process all submissions related to the claims and objections.
“Necessary updates to the register would be carried out on 22 December 2025. The adjustments were to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the voter database.
“The CVR exercise would resume for Phase Two on 5 January 2026. All eligible citizens who had not registered or who needed to update their details should use the opportunity.
“The Commission urges all eligible citizens to take advantage of this window,” the statement noted.
While reaffirming the Commission’s dedication to consolidating Nigeria’s electoral process, the Commission urged the public to follow official communication channels for accurate information and to avoid misinformation.
