Labour Party disowns Umuahia Extended Stakeholders meeting, describes outcome a Charade.
The Labour Party has rejected the outcome of Governor Alex Otti’s extended stakeholders meeting held today in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.
The party described the formation of the Party’s new caretaker committee as illegal and unconstitutional.
This was disclosed in a release by the National Publicity Secretary, Mr Obiorah Ifoh.
According to the release, the extended stakeholders meeting is not an organ known to the constitution of the party. It also said that Article 11 of the Party constitution 2024, 2019 and 2009 provides the following as Organs of the Party.
The Ward, local government area, State and the National.
Also Article 12, has these as the Principal Organs of the Party. The National Convention, National Executive Council, National Working Committee, Board of Trustees, State Executive Council, State Working Committee, Local government Congress, Local government area Council, Local government area working Committee, Ward Congress, and Ward Executive Council.
With the above Party Organs as recognised by the Party Constitution, the Umuahia Extended Stakeholders meeting as summoned by Dr Alex Otti shows clearly that it’s a Charade, the statement stated.
