Melaye’s outburst against Nigerian lawmaker Abejide disappointing- LG Chair, Isa
A former Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Taufiq Isa, has condemned former Senator Dino Melaye over his recent comments about the lawmaker representing Yagba Federal Constituency of Kogi State in the House of Representatives, Leke Abejide.
Isa described Melaye’s outburst as “disappointing and unbecoming.”
Recall that Melaye had criticized Abejide over recent developments in the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Reacting in a statement personally signed and released to journalists on Tuesday in Abuja, Isa said the people of Okun land found Melaye’s remarks “unnecessary, deeply disappointing, and unworthy of someone who has held public office.”
He stressed that Okun land is known for honor, discipline, and respect, values he said Abejide embodies.
“The unprovoked verbal attack on Leke Abejide, a dignified and responsible representative of Yagba Federal Constituency, is viewed as an insult not just to him but to the collective dignity of the Okun people,” Isa said.
He described Abejide as a calm, focused leader whose service-driven approach has produced visible results across Okun communities, from student support programs to youth and women empowerment initiatives.
According to him, these achievements are tangible and widely appreciated, which explains the overwhelming goodwill Abejide enjoys both at home and in the diaspora.
In contrast, Isa said many in Okun land remember Melaye’s time in office more for controversies than for concrete development. “Leadership is measured by impact, not drama,” he added.
“Our people now judge by wisdom, evidence, and performance,” he said.
