NLC threatens to shutdown economy as Police invite Joe Ajero for allegedly financing terr0rism, others | Read Details
The Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC have threatened to shutdown the economy over it’s National chairman, Comrade Joe Ajero, who was invited by the Nigerian police over allegations of financing terr0rism, conspiracy, felony , subversion and cybercrime.
The invitation letter dated August 19, and signed by ACP Adamu S. Muiazu, Assistant Commissioner of Police for Deputy Commissioner of Police Intelligence Response Team, read,
“This office is investigating a case of Criminal Conspiracy,
Terrorism Financing, Treasonable Felony, Subversion and
Cybercrime in which you were mentioned.
2. You are therefore invited to interview the undersigned on Tuesday 20th Aug, 2024 by 10:00hrs prompt, at IRT Complex, old Abattoir by Guzape Junction, Abuja, through the Team leader with telephone no 08035179870 in connection with the above investigation.
Be informed that in the event of failing to honour this letter, this office will have no alternative than to activate a warrant of arrest against you please.”
However, the Nigeria Labour Congress on Tuesday, resolved to shut down the economy should the police detain or arrest Joe Ajero.
This resolution was reached at the end of its emergency National Executive Council meeting which was held in Abuja with some other executives joining virtually.
The meeting commenced by 8:30 a.m. and it was resolved that Ajero honour the invitation by the police.
Recall that security agents had on July 7, conducted a night raid on the NLC national secretariat in Abuja.
