Abia First Lady, Priscilla Otti revisits ass@ult victim, renders more help | Read Details

 

Keeping to her words, the First Lady of Abia State, Mrs Priscilla Otti on Sunday, paid a visit to Mrs. Amarachi Okpokiri, who miraculously survived an unprovoked atta-ck by her husband who allegedly attempted to gou-ge her eyes and mach-ete her for rit-ual purposes.

Speaking while paying an assesment visit to the survivor at the palace of HRM Eze Allen Okpokiri, Amarachi’s uncle, the governor’s wife restated her commitment to ensure that Amarachi gets all the needed help to bounce back to life and also get a sustainable means of livelihood.

Mrs. Otti further stated that the perpetrators of the atta-ck on Amarachi, are facing the full force of the law, adding that ;”Justice will be served, and no such crime will go unpunished under this administration.”

The First Lady warned that Abia state will be a red zone for perpetrators of Gender Based Viole-nce, GBV, assuring that the Abia State Government under Dr Alex Otti, is taking stronger steps to discourage GBV especially on women and children.

Mrs Otti revealed that more actions are in place to combat gender-based vio-lence, which includes; increased public awareness campaigns, establishment of more safe houses for victims, and the provision of legal and psychological support for survivors.

She appealed to communities, traditional leaders, local authorities, and civil society organizations to work together in reporting cases and preventing abuse at all levels.

In her response, Mrs Amarachi Okpokiri thanked the wife of the governor for her swift intervention and support to see to the offsetting of her medical bills.

“You have been my pillar of support. May God continue to bless and guide you,” she said.

 

While appreciating the governor’s wife, the Edeukwu II of Emede Accent Kingdom, HRM Eze Allen Okpokiri, said; “….….Your actions today demonstrate that the right government is in power.

“The righteous are in leadership, and it is evident through your commitment to justice, compassion, and service. The people are rejoicing because they see the care and dedication you bring”.

Highlight of the visit was a cash gift presentation from the First Lady to Amarachi.

Mrs Otti also pledged to support Amarachi start a business.

Amarachi Okpokiri
