Reduce foreign trips, focus on domestic challenges – Tinubu advised

A legal practitioner and political analyst, Liborous Oshoma, has advised President Bola Tinubu to reduce his foreign trips and focus more on the security and poverty challenges bedeviling Nigeria.

Oshoma made this call on Friday while responding to questions in an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television, monitored by DAILY POST.

“The President will go on a working visit to France and on each of those working visits, you can imagine the number of entourage; governors, ministers, and the likes regardless of the cost.

“Then in all of that, we are talking about tightening our belt. It’s like we are at Structural Adjustment Programme, SAP, of IBB era, when the government said tighten your belt.

“The President will say I know that my policies have brought untold hardship on you, so bear with me, these policies are the bitter pills we need to swallow. As much as people want to bear these pains of hardship, they also want to see the president bearing.

“But the idea is when there’s bad insecurity anywhere, the president jets out of the country. It’s so bad now that insecurity has become so normal.

“I think the president should reduce foreign trips and focus on domestic challenges,” he said.

President Tinubu is said to have since his inauguration, embarked on 46 trips, spending a total of 192 days outside the country as of October 2025.
