Shettima: ‘We’ll decide who becomes Tinubu’s VP when the time comes’ – APC
The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Felix Morka, on Tuesday said the party would decide on the position of the Vice President when the time comes.
Morka explained that an endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term is also an endorsement for the VP.
He disclosed this while featuring on Arise Television’s Morning Show.
The APC spokesman was reacting to speculations that Vice President Kashim Shettima could be dropped as Tinubu’s running mate in 2027.
Morka said: “The position of Vice President, when the time comes, is liable to conversations at the party level, you know, for decisions as to who becomes Vice President.
“So when they endorse the President, in my understanding, that constitutes an endorsement of the serving Vice President as well, whether or not his name is listed, because you know, the President is the one who is on the ballot.
“It’s not easy to just assume that and say that because it’s a joint ticket. The President has already been highlighted in the past as governor, has had opportunities to change his deputies.
“And so it’s not moving away from trends and what he’s done in the past. But that’s exactly why this is all very speculative.”
