State of emergency likely to be over soon in Rivers as Tinubu meets warring parties
There are indications that Governor Siminalayi Fubara, His Deputy, Ngozi Odu and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly will soon go back to resume their duties for which the people elected them.
This followed a closed door meeting held on Thursday night between President Bola Tinubu with Governor Siminalayi Fubara, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly Martins Amaewhule and members of the assembly at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
Sources say President Tinubu reconciled the parties whose irreconcilable differences led to the declaration of a state of emergency in the oil- rich south-south state on March 18.
Sources have that despite the fact that no official statement came from the presidency and the parties which met with the president there are high expectations that the state of emergency imposed on the State may soon be over.
Recall, President Tinubu hinged his decision in declaring the State of emergency on March 18 on Section 305 of the 1999 Constitution, to prevent the Fubara, Wike, House of Assembly political crisis from snowballing into regrettable levels .
