President Bola Tinubu has appointed Chukwuemeka Woke as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority.
Woke was chief of staff to the minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike when he was Rivers state governor.
Woke’s appointment was announced in a statement issued on Thursday, by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
Woke succeeds Mr. Olufemi Odumosu who former President Muhammadu Buhari reappointed for a second four-year term in January 2021.
Ogun–Osun River Basin Development Authority is one of the 12 River Basin Development Authorities established by the Federal Government under Decrees 25 of 1976 and 31 of 1977.
A parastatal under the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority was formally launched on July 4, 1977 by the then Federal Commissioner (Minister) for Water Resources, Ibrahim EI Yakub.
Ngelale’s statement read;
President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Engr. Chukwuemeka Woke as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority.
Engr. Woke is a seasoned engineer and politician. He had served as Chairman of Emohua local government area of Rivers State and was Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt, for many years.
The President expects the new Chief Executive Officer of the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority to discharge his duties with integrity and in conformity with the highest standards of transparency, while working at harnessing and developing the water resource potential of the area, as well as ensuring that the Authority is a channel for holistic and integrated industrial, agricultural, and community development.
