Tinubu Condoles With Super Eagles Captain Wilfred Ndidi On Father’s Death – Arise News
President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Sunday Ndidi, father of Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi, describing the loss as tragic.
The President’s condolence message was conveyed in a statement posted on the official handle of his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday.
Sunday Ndidi reportedly died in a fatal road accident in Umunede, near Agbor, Delta State. Wilfred Ndidi, a Nigerian international footballer, currently plays for Turkish Super Lig club Besiktas.
Reacting to the incident, President Tinubu said he was deeply saddened by the death and acknowledged the strong bond between the late Sunday Ndidi and his son.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic death of Sunday Ndidi. I share in the grief of his family, friends and associates, particularly Wilfred Ndidi, who shared a strong bond with his father as a mentor and guide in his remarkable career as an exceptional footballer,” the President said.
President Tinubu also paid tribute to the character and life of the deceased, noting the impact of his values on those around him.
“There is no doubt that Sunday’s modest beginnings and honesty greatly impacted those who looked up to him for inspiration,” he added.
The President further prayed for comfort for the Ndidi family and strength to bear the loss.
President Tinubu also prayed that God Almighty would grant eternal repose to the soul of the departed.
