The Senate experienced a blackout, as the Senators awaited the restoration of electricity for the commencement of their legislative duties on Tuesday, 5th March 2024.

After power was restored, the President of the Senate, Goodwill Akpabio, then commenced plenary with an apology for the outage and the heat in the Chambers, saying that about nine offices still have outage as work was still ongoing to restoring total lights.

In the FCT, the issue of power outage is a recurrent one as the residents are lamenting of the insensitivity of the AEDC to the consumers, despite the hardship and harsh weather, which has ushered in the heat currently in the FCT, a situation where lights can’t be seen for days despite the status of Abuja as the capital Territory of the Nation.
