We are really devastated – NNPP on Gov Yusuf’s defection

The New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, in Kano State has expressed their dismay at the defection of Governor Abba Yusuf into the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Speaking in an interview on ‘Politics Today’ a programme on TRUST BASE NEWS monitored by DAILY POST on Monday, the state’s NNPP spokesman, Ibrahim Karaye said they felt devasted and betrayed.

DAILY POST reports that Governor Yusuf officially rejoined the APC on Monday after resigning from the NNPP on Friday.

Reacting to the defection, Karaye said, “We are really devastated. We feel betrayed, and we are not happy with the development, but
NNPP is still stronger and is still the party to be here in Kano, because right from the moment the governor was planning to leave the party, all the major stakeholders are aware of his actions.

“But, in politics, you cannot just take a decision without the other party taking its own decision. He has not done anything. So, we waited for him until last Friday, when he resigned from our party.

“And after his resignation from the party, we expected him to go to a more progressive, more sophisticated party, because part of the reasons he gave why he left NNPP is that there are internal crisis.

“I can tell you that there is no any political party in Nigeria that doesn’t have internal crisis. Even here in Kano, the APC that he has joined, they have so many crisis, they have so many issues, but it’s politics.”
