Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo state on Tuesday, appointed himself as the commissioner for lands, Survey, and Physical Planning in the state.
The governor announced his new portfolio while swearing-in his commissioners and special advisers at the state government house in Owerri.
Uzodinma explained that his self appointment is due to the large scale of corruption in the ministry and confusion he witnessed over land issues in the last appointment

This move comes after the previous Commissioner for Lands, Noble Atulegwu, was suspended and later arrested in November 2023 over allegations of land grabbing and other related matters.
Atulegwu was detained for over 40 days at the police headquarters in Owerri before being released.
