PCRC and It’s roles in National Security — PCRC FCT Command .

The FCT Command of the Police Community Relations Committee had it’s second edition of its Security seminar, Organised by  FCT Command of the PCRC on Thursday in Abuja, with the theme ; The role of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in National Security.

The Chairman of the Command , Dr Rufus Ebegba, Charged participants in the event in a key note address.

In his address the FCT Chairman emphasised, the FCT Command of the PCRC determination to working and collaborating with the FCT Police Command and other relevant Stakeholders to eradicating crimes and Criminalities within the FCT. In his address he also urged the Police to flush out every identifed crime red spots in the FCT.

Still in his address Dr Rufus , identified technological facilities as a major tools to crime fighting, which according to him, includes drones, bullet proof helicopters and other technological developments, as he  urge the FCT Minister to procure  to the Police for effective policing. The chairman expressed serious concern over the rate of kidnapping, banditry, “one chance” operators, illicit drugs and other crimes in Nigeria and even in the FCT as a threat to social economic developments in the country. He called on all Nigerians to support security agencies and the government to stem the rate of crimes in the Country.

The Inspector General of Police and the FCT Commissioner of Police were represented by DCP Sabo Nurudeen and ACP Sunday P. Digha.

In their separate goodwill messages, both representatives encouraged the PCRC to continue their supports to the Police through sensitization and workshop of this kind. Also public enlightenments about the dangers of crimes and information gatherings to security Agencies for effective security measures in curbing crimes within the FCT and Nigeria at large.

In a paper from the Community Policing Office of the Force Headquarters presented by SP Bala Elkana, he charged the PCRC to leave up to it’s statutory mandates by providing prompt information about criminal hide outs and spots  to assist the police in preventing and combating crimes. He also outlined reasons for public participation in National Security.

In another paper presentation by Mrs Ann Haruna, the Chairman of the Apo Division of the PCRC, exposed the role of community policing and the need for all to be involved in crime control.

The Seminar had in attendance, the thirty one (31) divisions of the PCRC in the FCT with over three hundred members of the PCRC in the FCT attended the seminar.

In a closing remarks, the FCT Chairman, Dr Rufus Ebegba
appreciated the FCT police Command for their gallantry and urged the public to cooperate with security forces for a safe FCT and  Nigeria at large.

The second edition seminar was indeed a colourful events as the PCRC , the General Public and the Police Command interacted on the best security measures to savings lives and properties in the FCT.
