The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has advised the Nigerian government to quit the trial of their leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
The group made this known in a statement signed by their spokesman, Emma Powerful on Monday.
According to the statement the Spokesperson, noted that the group will only stand by “the judgment of the Appeal Court, which ordered that Mazi Nnamdi KANU, should not be tried any longer in any Nigerian court. The Supreme Court Judges were in agreement with the judgement but could not uphold the Appeals Court judgment.
The statement may have been shown that IPOB has stood their ground on ‘no more court trail of their leader, Mazi Kanu’. They beckon on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to kindly release their leader and other innocent IPOB members in various detention facilities across the country. They insist no amount of illegal abduction, detention, extrajudicial killings, and forceful disappearance will stop the quest for Biafra independence and the call for a referendum as they maintained that IPOB will restore Biafra, and it is either Biafra or Biafra.
“No matter what happens today, we will stand by “discharged and acquitted.” It is very obvious that they have no case against him or the organization that he leads. They are just utilizing the weak and bastardized instrumentality of the law in Nigeria to detain and persecute him. NIGERIA, LET OUR LEADER GO! The persecution of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and other innocent IPOB members will continue to destroy Nigeria’s image locally and internationally now and in the future. President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has been told by many that he has to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally because self-determination is lawful domestically and internationally”.
