Abia Labour Party Reject the Sacking of Sen Nwokocha, Describes Court’s bases for Judgement as Internal Matters of the Party.
The Abia State Labour Party has described the Judgement sacking the people’s choice Senator, Distinguish Senator Darlington Nwokocha, the Senator Representing the Abia Central as a great shock, baseless and as an act of Judicial recklessness.
The State Chairman of the Party, Hon Ceekay Igara made this remark in Umuahia on Sunday during a World Press conference at the State Party Secretariat.
According to Igara, the Appeal Court sack of Sen Nwokocha is based on internal affair matters of the Party, which the Court lacks Jurisdiction.
The State Party Chairman, maintained that in as much as the issue of Senator Nwokocha’s sack is about internal affairs of the Party, which the Court lacks Jurisdiction. Then the Distinguish Senator Darlington Nwokocha, remains the Senator Representing the good people of Abia Central.
Even as the Chairman of the National Assembly election Appeal Court, Biobele.A.George will, the Justice of the Appeal Court, reverses himself in other Judgements he delivered same day.
The Party therefore demands for the release of the certifies trues copy of the controversial Judgement to the party, to know the circumstances for such an unacceptable Judgement.
The Party also queried, why Col Austin Akobundu (retd) who didn’t even participated in the election or wasn’t even in the ballot will be imposed on the People because of Injustice.
“Basically, that section 77 where the judgement was predicated on, we’ve had a lot of judgements that both the tribunal and appeal court have reversed. For example, the case of Hon. Amobi Ogah, Hon. Obi Aguocha, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe and most recently, the Labour party candidate in Delta state . “We have plethora of judgements that are saying that the lower court and the appeallate court do not have the jurisdiction over party internal affairs” “We are demanding as a party, that the judge deliver to us details of that judgement before the end of today (Sunday), for us to know if what he said will stand anywhere, even when he has reversed himself .
“Nobody knew Akobundu was in the ballot. How can you come and change what the people want? and you start giving us what you imagined in your brain? We say no to this; let the right judgement be given to us” the State Chairman said.
“Distinguished senator Darlington Nwokocha has not been removed because if he has been removed, there is no way the judge would have reversed himself. Darlington Nwokocha remains our only senator in Abia central ” he added.
Key local Government officers of the party present at the press conference include LGA chairmen; Umuahia north, Ikwuano, Isialangwa north, Abia central, state deputy woman leader, Abia central woman leader, and Umuahia south chairman.
