1000 Abia women empowered with N50M business support fund under RHI | Read More 

One thousand Abia women petty traders on Wednesday, benefitted from the N50million business support fund under the Renewed Hope Initiative, RHI.

The initiative which is pioneered by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu is aimed at promoting small businesses, uplifting women and households across Nigeria, fostering economic resilience, and generating employment.

Speaking at the event, held at the Banquet Hall of the Abia state Government House in Umuahia, Mrs Tinubu who was represented by Salamatu Gbajabiamila noted that women play major roles in driving the local economy, hence the need for the empowerment.

She said;
“The grants provided today are intended to help our women overcome business challenges, expand their enterprises, create jobs, and contribute more robustly to our national economy.

“You are the heart of our local economies, the foundation of our communities, and the unsung heroes of our nation. Today, we celebrate your hard work and perseverance.”

She called for collaborative efforts to create a Nigeria where women are equipped to succeed, and small businesses can flourish as engines of national prosperity.

Speaking, the First Lady of Abia state, Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti, charged the beneficiaries to utilise the opportunity given them to grow their businesses.
Mrs Otti appreciated Senator Oluremi Tinubu for being a beacon of hope for Nigerian women and acknowledged the steadfast leadership of the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for his progressive policies that continue to safeguard the interests of women in the state.

In their respective remarks, the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Lekwachi Emetu, and the Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, Mrs. Blessing Ngozi Felix, commended the Renewed Hope Initiative for its dedication to humanity and urged the women to make the most of this life-changing support.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of N50 million to the beneficiaries.
