ADVERT

The recent political tension in Abia State is a course for alarm, as it seems to be directionless with the key actors modifying their languages to justify their wrong doing through semantic political games that is endlessly diminishing the people’s trust on them.

The concept of Democratic Government according to Abraham Lincoln word;  “Government of the people,by the people, for the people”. This means the population choosing a government through regular, free and fair elections. But some of our political leaders who have climbed through this democratic concept have distorted the process for a selfish political games.

Candidate in the November 2 LG Elections in Abia State is in the eye of the storm, more especially the purported Governor’s list. Prediction has it that the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) is a game changer against the Julius Abure faction immediately after the recognition of Abure as the authentic National Chairman of the Labour Party by the Federal High Court.

Therefore, it is imperative for all politicians to obey our laws in their political sojourn. What is the legal implications of the exodus of party members to another political party in contravention of our laws?. What is also the legal consequences of the political intrigues of contesting election under two political parties or having more than one political Party’s logo in posters to contest elections as it is currently seen in Abia State?.

Amidst all these, some candidates purported to be the candidates of the Governor are flying their posters showing different logos of political parties, especially the Zenith Labour Party and the Labour Party.

Abians are confused and also asking what could be the reasons for this?. Is it part of the political games?. Should we say that Abians are in a serious problem under this dispensation?. Well we demand answers to these pertinent questions especially, as it borders on humanity.

Our political leaders should refrain from certain malfeasance if they are not permitted by law.
Our laws should be respected no matter your position. The mentality of achieving political powers cunningly has also consequences. Our laws has given timeframe for politicians to resign from their Party and join a new political party if they are to contest for an election.
“Remember Integrity in men is to be measured by their conduct and not by their profession or achievement”.
