
The Senate on Wednesday declared the seat of Governor Monday Okpebholo vacant.
The Senate also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a bye-election to fill the vacancy.
The seat of Okpebholo, who represented Edo Central Senatorial District, became vacant following his election and inauguration as the Governor of Edo State last month.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio made the declarations after a valedictory session for Okpebholo organised by the Senate.
Akpabio urged the Governor to keep his legacy of good works as he carries out his duties as governor of Edo state.
