The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Enugu State has dismissed the petition of the People’s Redemption Party candidate, Chief Chris Agu, challenging the election of Mr Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party in the March 18 governorship election in the state.

The three-member tribunal led Justice K. M. Akano in dismissing all the three grounds of the petitioners

which sought the nullification of the election of Mbah as the duly elected governor of Enugu State, said that he relied on newspaper publications.

The tribunal insisted that the Petitioners could not present the polling unit agents to testify before it in support of their petition.

Chief Agu through his lawyer, Alex Amujiogo, is challenging the election of Governor Mbah on the grounds that he is not qualified to contest the election having allegedly submitted a fake National Youths Service Corps discharge certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) among others.

However, reacting to the judgement shortly after the ruling of the Tribunal, Chief Agu rejected it and vowed to challenge the judgement in the appeal
