At least, four prospective member of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC have died in a fatal road accident that happened in Ebonyi State on Wednesday.
The accident involved a 14 seater bus belonging to the Enugu North Mass Transit which reportedly rammed into a parked truck {tipper} beside the road, at Amenu community in Okposi. .
12 victims were heading to the NYSC Orientation Camp located in Afikpo town, for their three-week orientation course before the accident occurred.
They were rescued by residents and security agencies and rushed to the David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences.
According to a statement by David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital, Uburu late Thursday evening, thirteen victims were rushed to the hospital and upon arrival, two victims succumbed to their injuries.
Two were transferred to the surgical ward, while others were admitted to the accident and emergency ward.
Meanwhile, one corps member escaped without injuries, while the driver sustained severe cervical injuries.
The survivors are said to be recuperating, and hospital officials are hopeful about their chances of making a full recovery.
