The First Lady of Abia State, Mrs. Priscilla Otti in collaboration with the wife of the president, senator Oluremi Tinubu’s Agricultural Support Programme under the Renewed Hope Initiative, has trained and distributed starter packs to farmers.

Speaking at the Agricultural support programme held at the Umuahia North LGA on Tuesday, the wife of the governor charged beneficiaries to apply the knowledge and skills they have gained to drive innovation, increase productivity, and ensure food security for the state.

She pointed out that the training program, which commenced on Monday, March 3, was carefully structured around strategic pillars designed to address key challenges within the agricultural sector.

“Through this program, we have equipped you with the essential skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in agriculture. We have provided you with the tools to enhance food sufficiency, improve livelihoods, and contribute to the growth of our local economy”.

“Our comprehensive training covered organic fertilizer production, animal feed production, rice production, pest control, best farming techniques, and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), all facilitated by highly qualified experts” she added.

 

Mrs. Otti thanked the wife of the president “for her exceptional leadership and vision in driving this Agricultural Support Programme under the Renewed Hope Initiative, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.”

  1. It is my utmost honor to stand before you today, as we celebrate the successful completion of our groundbreaking Agricultural Support and Training program. This initiative embodies our unwavering commitment to empowering women and young people in agriculture, aligning perfectly with our nation’s agenda to strengthen the agricultural sector and enhance food security.

I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her exceptional leadership and vision in driving this Agricultural Support Programme under the Renewed Hope Initiative, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. Her passion for sustainable agricultural landscapes that empower women and youths is truly inspiring.

 

  1. As one of the First Ladies in the South-east to pioneer this initiative, I am proud to announce that our training program, which commenced yesterday, is carefully structured around strategic pillars designed to address key challenges within the agricultural sector.

 

  1. Through this program, we have equipped you with the essential skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in agriculture. We have provided you with the tools to enhance food sufficiency, improve livelihoods, and contribute to the growth of our local economy.

 

  1. Our comprehensive training covered organic fertilizer production, animal feed production, rice production, pest control, best farming techniques, and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), all facilitated by highly qualified experts.

 

  1. I would also like to briefly highlight our ‘Every Home a Garden’ initiative, which aims to ensure food in every home. Home gardens offer numerous benefits, including fresh produce, relaxation, stress relief, and opportunities for education, community building, and economic empowerment.

 

  1. As a wife, mother, and advocate for healthy living, I have seen firsthand the positive impact that home gardens can have on families and communities. From providing a sustainable source of food to fostering a sense of community and cooperation, home gardens have the power to transform lives.
