Abia Police Command rescues twelve Children from illegal home

Twelve children aged between 6 months and fourteen years have been rescued by the Abia State Police Command at an unregistered motherless babies’ home located in Aba.

A release endorsed by the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Maureen Chinaka says the command apprehended two persons ,Blessing Emebo aged 49and Sunday Emebo, 42 for operating an unregistered motherless babies’ home in their apartment at Ikot Ekpene Road Aba.

The release names the victims to include Ojiugo Caleb (14yrs), Christian okoro (12yrs), Samuel okoro (13yrs), Clinton Nkemakolam (9yrs),
Godwin Emmanuel (10yrs), Osinachi Nkemakolam (6yrs) and
Marvelous Emmanuel (5yrs ).

Others are, David Emmanuel (7yrs),
Testimony Emebo (2 months), Ogechi Nkemakolam (9yrs),
Chinaza Okoro (9yrs) and Anointing Okoro (7yrs).

According to the release the suspects were arrested on the 19/05/2025 by detectives leveraging credible intelligence, adding that the victims are from different villages in Arochukwu.

It further revealed that the rescued children have been safely handed over to the Ministry of Women Affairs for custody while investigations and interrogations are ongoing.

While assuring that the suspects will soon be arraigned in court at the conclusion of investigation, the Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the reduction of crime and criminality in the state.

It however enjoined the public to stay security-conscious and ensure children’s safety as well as desisting from leaving children with unfamiliar persons.
