The federal government of Nigeria has officially set the minimum age for admission into tertiary institutions at 16 years.
This was announced by The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, on Tuesday while opening the ongoing Policy Meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, in Abuja.
The minister warned that any admission carried out outside the Central Admission Processing System, CAPS, would be deemed illegal, and those responsible would face prosecution.
He added that heads of institutions involved in admission malpractice would be prosecuted as well.
