It was a horrific and pitiable experience for commuters plying Ubani market – Umuahia Town route in Abia state this Friday evening, (11/7/25), as at least three people lost their lives in accident involving a tricycle (Keke) and a vehicle.

According to eye witness accounts, the tragedy which happened at a junction known as signboard along the road saw the three Passengers (all female) in the Keke die in the spot with a child that is not up to two years miraculously surviving the accident without a scratch.

The accounts revealed that the Keke which took off from Ubani Market en route to the City centre of Umuahia known as Isi Gate, collided with a speeding car, resulting in the instant death of all adult passengers.

As at the time of filing the report the identities of the victims were yet to be known while the surviving child was picked by a concerned citizen.

Also, the whereabouts of the Keke driver is yet to be ascertained as some unconfirmed reports say he was among the four persons that lost their lives .
