Former President, Muhammadu Buhari laid to rest in Daura
The remains of the immediate past Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, has been interred in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, with full national and military honours.
The Interment took place in the courtyard of his private residence shortly after Janazah (funeral) prayers were observed at a nearby makeshift prayer ground.
According to reports, Buhari’s body, draped in the green-white-green colours of the Nigerian flag, was wheeled to the graveside on a gurney by military pallbearers while Soldiers stood at attention and rendered a final salute as military band solemnly played their trumpets, followed by gun salutes in tribute.
Late Buhari’s body which had earlier arrived in Katsina from London was received at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State, and other senior officials before being conveyed under tight security to Daura.
Dignitaries, family members, Traditional rulers, Political leaders, and mourners from across the country graced the solemn moment.
The former President who had ruled as both military and civilian Head of State died on Sunday in a London clinic.
