Two Real Madrid players favourites to take No.9 shirt from Mbappe
Two Real Madrid players have emerged as favourites to take the club’s No. 9 shirt from Kylian Mbappé at the Santiago Bernabéu.
According to Diario AS, Endrick was expected to take the No. 9 shirt until Gonzalo García’s emergence during the Club World Cup tournament.
Currently, it is between Endrick and García, but no decision has been made by Real Madrid.
This comes after Real Madrid demanded that Mbappé take the No. 10 shirt at the club.
Recall that the number became available after veteran midfielder Luka Modrić left the La Liga giants this summer.
Modrić has signed for Serie A side AC Milan as a free agent.
Initial reports claimed that the No. 10 shirt was up for grabs between Mbappé and Arda Güler.
But it was understood that Mbappé was not particularly keen on relinquishing the No. 9 shirt he took when he arrived from Paris Saint-Germain.
However, Real Madrid’s hierarchy decided that the France international would take the No. 10 shirt ahead of next season.
