PDP takes a bold step towards recapturing Nigeria’s presidency, consults Jonathan, Obi, Amaechi

Nigeria’s major opposition political party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is currently shopping for quality presidential candidate that can snatch power from the the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2027.

The chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State who disclosed this in an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television made it clear that the party is open to celebrated politicians who can make an impact on its presidential ambition.

Without mincing words, the Governor revealed that the PDP is considering former President Goodluck Jonathan and Peter Obi for its presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections, pointing out that they have all it takes to go into the battle and win with the support base of the party.

Referring to Obi, Governor Mohammed said: “Of course, he’s one of the most celebrated politicians too. And of course, you see him within the coalition.

According to him, “we are not sleeping. Only that we don’t make noise. There are so many politicians. I even had a session with former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi. I have not been sleeping. I have to make sure I do my homework to make sure people come in.

“These are some of the decisions that are left to Peter Obi. I have discussed with him, and I told him the PDP is open to all those celebrated politicians who can come and add value to our presidential drive or ambition.”
