2026 WCQ: Benin Republic captain Mounie ready for ‘historic’ clash with Super Eagles
Benin Republic captain Steve Mounie has declared that the Cheetahs will give their all in the clash with the Super Eagles of Nigeria, DAILY POST reports.
Gernot Rohr’s side will be up against the Super Eagles in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matchday 10 encounter at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo next week.
The Cheetahs will need to avoid defeat to have any chance of qualifying for the global soccer fiesta.
Mounie said they are looking forward to the game.
“We play football for this kind of match. It will be a historic meeting. We will give everything to take Benin to the World Cup,” Mounie was quoted by Mega Sports.
Benin Republic currently occupy top spot in Group C with 17 points from nine matches.
