Brazil legend, Zico names Africa’s greatest player of all time
Brazilian football icon, Zico has made his choice of who is the greatest of all time in African football.
According to him, former Super Eagles midfielder and captain, Austin ‘Jay-Jay’ Okocha occupies that position.
Zico said this when he appeared on John Obi Mikel’s Obi One Podcast on Thursday.
The Brazilian legend said he admired Okocha’s style of football, which he described as ‘fantastic’.
He said that Okocha’s creativity and flair made him stand out among his peers.
Speaking to Mikel about the best African player he has ever seen, Zico said, “I like Okocha — a fantastic player. Number 10, Okocha. Eto’o, fantastic. George Weah, Drogba.”
Zico also said that his compatriot, Pelé remains the greatest footballer of all time.
Okocha, now 52, played 73 times for Nigeria, scoring 14 goals.
