NPFL: Wikki Tourists urge supporters to remain calm ahead of Barau FC clash
Wikki Tourists have appealed for calm from their supporters following the decision of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, to hold their Matchday 11 fixture against Barau FC behind closed doors.
The encounter is scheduled for Sunday at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.
The decision to exclude fans stems from crowd trouble that erupted at the same venue after the Kano Pillars clash with Shooting Stars last month.
“Wikki Tourists wish to appeal to our teeming supporters to please remain calm and understanding over the decision of the league organisers that Match Day 11 of the NPFL 2025/26 season between Barau FC and Wikki Tourists in Kano on Sunday, 2/11/25, will be played behind closed doors,” the club said in a statement on Saturday.
“We understand your passion and desire to cheer the team physically; this temporary measure is beyond our control. We therefore call on all our supporters to continue to pray fervently for the success of the Tourists as we go into this crucial encounter.”
Wikki Tourists will go into the fixture with renewed confidence after securing victory over Shooting Stars last weekend.
