Taraba: 16 LG chairmen dump PDP, set to join APC

Sixteen Local Government Council Chairmen in Taraba State have resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, marking another major shift in the state’s political landscape.

The chairmen, who have reportedly finalized plans to align with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, said their decision was driven by solidarity with Governor Agbu Kefas, who is expected to formally defect to the APC on Wednesday.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the state ALGON Chairman, Dr. Aminu Jauro Hassan, on behalf of the council executives.

According to the statement, the chairmen explained that their resignation would enable them to fully align with the governor’s political direction and strengthen support for his Moving Forward Agenda for Taraba State.

They also reaffirmed their loyalty and commitment to Governor Kefas, commending his leadership style, peacebuilding efforts, and dedication to the state’s transformation.

The development comes just hours after sixteen PDP members of the Taraba State House of Assembly also dumped the party for the APC, further deepening the wave of defections sweeping across the state’s political sphere.
