Cowardly asking Peter Obi to abandon presidential ambition because Tinubu controls INEC – Ejimakor
A legal consultant to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Aloy Ejimakor, has criticised those calling on a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Peter Obi, to abandon his 2027 presidential ambition.
Ejimakor described the calls as “cowardly and duplicitous”.
Ejimakor said claims that President Bola Tinubu controls the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and security agencies should not be used to discourage Obi’s aspirations.
Posting on X, Ejimakor noted that history contradicts such reasoning, recalling that former President Goodluck Jonathan, despite being the incumbent with control of state machinery, lost the 2015 presidential election to Muhammadu Buhari.
According to him, incumbency has clear limits in Nigeria’s democratic process.
He wrote: “It’s cowardly and duplicitous to suggest that Peter Obi should abandon his 2027 presidential ambition because Tinubu ‘controls’ INEC & security agencies.
“It’s also ahistorical, considering that Jonathan was also in control when he lost to Buhari. Incumbency has its limits.”
Ejimakor, IINEC, Peter Obi, Tinubu,
