The Executive Director of Finance and Administration at the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Boma Iyaye, has refuted reports suggesting he is eyeing the Rivers State governorship.
In a statement, Iyaye described as untrue claims making the rounds on social media that he had declared interest in the 2027 governorship race and had the backing of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
An ally of the FCT minister, Iyaye said his priority remains his current role at the NDDC, where he continues to work with the commission’s leadership and relevant stakeholders to promote sustainable development in the Niger Delta.
He also dismissed insinuations of any form of political endorsement, maintaining that he has not received support from Wike or any other individual.
“I wish to respectfully clarify that these reports are inaccurate and do not reflect the true position,” he said.
Iyaye further expressed appreciation for Wike’s leadership and contributions to public service, while urging the public and media organisations to verify information before dissemination and ignore misleading reports.
